Technology
What SPE/PEM actually does
Electrolysis produces hydrogen at one electrode and oxygen — plus potentially ozone and chlorine — at the other. A proton-exchange membrane keeps the two apart, so hydrogen dissolves into your water and the rest is vented through a separate channel in the base.
Because the membrane doubles as the electrolyte, no salts or additives are needed. Plain drinking water is all that goes in.

Before your first use
The membrane inside a new bottle is dry and needs activating. Fill the bottle with warm water at roughly 40–50 °C and leave it to stand for 2–3 hours, then pour the water away and charge the bottle fully before the first cycle. Follow the steps in the manual supplied with your bottle.
Care
Rinse the glass body with the supplied brush. The base contains the battery and electrolysis cell, so do not submerge it. Never put juice, tea, milk, sparkling water or any liquid other than clean drinking water into the bottle — carbonated drinks in particular can build up pressure and damage the device.

Do I need to do anything before the first use?
Yes. The membrane ships dry. Fill the bottle with warm water at roughly 40–50 °C, leave it for two to three hours, pour it away, then charge the bottle fully before your first cycle.
What type of water should I use?
Clean drinking water only — filtered, bottled or reverse-osmosis. Never use juice, tea, milk, sparkling water or any other liquid. Carbonated drinks in particular can build up pressure and damage the bottle.
What hydrogen concentration does it reach?
The bottle has a PPB display that shows the concentration for each cycle as it runs. We do not publish a single headline figure because real-world concentration depends on your water, its temperature and the age of the membrane.
How long does the battery last?
A full charge takes roughly two to three hours over USB Type-C and gives approximately 15 cycles.
How do I clean it?
Rinse the glass body and use the supplied cleaning brush. Do not submerge the base, which contains the battery and the electrolysis cell, and never put it in a dishwasher. Descale the membrane periodically if you use hard water.
Can I take it on a plane?
It contains a built-in lithium battery, so carry it in hand luggage rather than checked baggage, and empty it before security. Check your airline's current policy before you fly.
