Questions we are asked most often about the HydrojenBottle hydrogen water bottle. If something is not covered here, get in touch.
About the product
What is a hydrogen water bottle?
A bottle with a hydrogen generator built into its base. Instead of using tablets or a countertop machine, you fill the bottle with water and it dissolves hydrogen gas into that water on the spot.
How does it work?
Through electrolysis. A current is passed through the water and an SPE/PEM membrane keeps the resulting gases separate, so hydrogen enters the water while ozone and chlorine are vented away. There is a longer explanation on how it works.
How long does a cycle take?
Five minutes. The bottle stops automatically when the cycle finishes.
What hydrogen concentration does it reach?
The bottle has a PPB display that shows the concentration for each cycle as it runs. We deliberately do not publish a single headline figure, because real-world concentration depends on your water, its temperature and the age of the membrane — a number printed on a box would not tell you much about the bottle in your hand.
Using it
What water should I use?
Clean drinking water only — filtered, bottled or reverse-osmosis. Never use juice, tea, milk, sparkling water or any other liquid. Carbonated drinks are a particular risk because they can build up pressure inside the bottle and damage it.
Do I need to do anything before the first use?
Yes. The membrane ships dry. Fill the bottle with warm water at roughly 40–50 °C, leave it for two to three hours, pour it away, then charge the bottle fully before your first cycle.
Can I run more than one cycle?
Yes. Some owners run a second cycle on the same water to raise the concentration. Let the bottle rest briefly between cycles rather than running them back to back continuously.
Should I drink it straight away?
Ideally, yes. Hydrogen escapes from water steadily once the cycle ends, so the sooner you drink it the more of it is still there.
Power and charging
How is it charged?
Over the supplied USB Type-C cable. The port sits behind a waterproof silicone cover on the base.
How long does charging take, and how many uses do I get?
Roughly two to three hours for a full charge, giving approximately 15 cycles. Those are the manufacturer's figures; real-world numbers vary with use.
Care
How do I clean it?
Rinse the glass body and use the supplied cleaning brush. Do not submerge the base — it contains the battery and the electrolysis cell. Do not put the bottle in a dishwasher.
The bottle produces fewer bubbles than it used to. What now?
Usually mineral scale on the membrane. Descaling with a mild food-safe acid, per the manual, is the normal remedy. Consistently using filtered or reverse-osmosis water slows scale build-up considerably.
